Vegetable production has more than doubled in just over a decade, making Bangladesh one of the fastest-growing vegetable producers in the world. The growth in recent years stems from better seeds and technologies. According to officials at the Department of Agricultural Extension (DoAE), some 26,230,927 tons of vegetables were produced in 2017-18 fiscal year from 1,169,326 hectares of land, while 19,396,755 tons in 2013-2014 fiscal year from 968,827 hectares.

 

Over the span of a year, a typical vegetable farmer cultivates their field thrice - in the three agricultural seasons of Robi, Kharif 1 and Kharif 2. In context of this farm, the farmer intends to cultivate Potato in Rabi season, Bitter Gourd in Kharif 1 and Radish in Kharif 2. Such that, the farmer intends to take an investment of BDT 40,000 to cultivate on a land of 20 decimal, for a year. The money will be recycled by the farmer for the three cultivating seasons.

 

Potato is a prime vegetable in our diet, grown in the Northern regions of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Bitter Gourd stands out as a major cash crop for farmers. Adding to that, the reliable growth of Radish due to the advent of hybrid seed in the market, made it a safe farming option. What should be my expectations from my vegetable farm units?

 
iFarmer purchases the production from the farm on behalf of the ‘buyer’ in the designated farm in advance and ensures proper management against risk and also provides a 360-degree regulatory service for the farm.

On completion of your buy payment, you will be allocated with total production of one farm, based on the availability in the project location and issued an ownership certificate bearing your name and the unique number of the share only for one production cycle.  

Afterwards, iFarmer will work as your portfolio manager for a fixed time period, and before the contract period ends you will receive your basic buy along with the offered dividend.

What will be the mode of payment, and how are you going to disburse it?

 

On completion of the cycle, you will receive your principal amount and dividend in your designated bank account shared in your iFarmer profile.

 

Is the return amount variable?

How many units can a person buy?

 

One person can buy a maximum of 5 units under his or her name.

 

Can anyone buy vegetable units from outside Bangladesh?

 

Yes, only the personnel having a bank account in Bangladesh can fund.
