Rice is the staple food of about 135 million people of Bangladesh. It is one of the cheapest and the strongest of all natural fibers and considered as fibre of the future. Almost all of the 13 million farm families of the country grow rice. Rice is grown on about 10.5 million hectares which has remained almost stable over the past three decades.
 

Total rice production in Bangladesh was about 10.59 million tons in the year 1971 when the country's population was only about 70.88 millions. However, the country is now producing about 25.0 million tons to feed her 135 million people. This indicates that the growth of rice production was much faster than the growth of population. This increased rice production has been possible largely due to the adoption of modern rice varieties on around 66% of the rice land which contributes to about 73% of the country's total rice production.

What should be my expectations from my Rice farm units?

 

iFarmer manages the farm on behalf of the ‘Funder’ and ensures proper management against risk and also provides inputs, advisory and market access to the farmers.

 

On completion of your fund payment, you will be allocated with a total production of one farm, based on the availability in the project location and issued a Client Contract bearing your name and the number of the unit only for one production cycle.  

 

Afterwards, iFarmer will work as your portfolio manager for the agreed time period, and when the contract period ends, you will receive your basic fund along with the offered dividend.

 

For people who are interested in Jute cultivation, they can purchase a unit value of BDT 20,000 which will be cultivated on a land equivalent to 30 decimal. The financing period is 4 months or 120 days with a projected return of  5% which will be distributed upon maturity.

Is the return amount fixed? or can that vary?

How many units can a person buy?

 

One person can buy a maximum of 5 units under his or her name.

 

Can anyone buy Rice Farm units from outside Bangladesh?

 

Yes, only the personnel having a bank account in Bangladesh can fund.
