Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Define and execute the strategic roadmap for iFarmer’s financial services, aligning with company goals.
  • Scale farmer and retailer financing products while maintaining healthy portfolio quality.
  • Lead the development of new financial products (e.g., warehouse financing, invoice financing, trade financing, savings products for farmers etc).

Business Development & Partnerships

  • Build and manage strategic relationships with banks, NBFIs, MFIs, and impact investors.
  • Negotiate co-lending and risk-sharing agreements to expand credit supply.
  • Drive the integration of financing solutions into iFarmer’s marketplace and platform transactions.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Design, develop, and refine a suite of financing products tailored for: Farmer, Input financing, working capital, and productivity-linked loans
    • Farmer, Input financing, working capital, and productivity-linked loans
    • Retailers – Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL), embedded financing, credit limits
    • Suppliers/Traders – PO financing, invoice discounting, reverse factoring
  • Lead continuous improvement of farmer financing processes, including: Faster loan approval and disbursement
    • Faster loan approval and disbursement
    • Better farmer onboarding and KYC workflows
    • Simplified repayment structures aligned with crop cycles Integration with advisory, input, and output services
  • Introduce and scale cashless payment and repayment systems that are intuitive and inclusive.
  • Collaborate closely with product, tech, and data teams to digitize lending journeys on platforms like Sofol and mobile applications.

Credit Scoring & Data Systems

  • Build and implement data-driven performance scoring models using transaction data, farm metrics, and behavioral signals.
  • Collaborate with tech/product teams to embed credit flows into iFarmer’s digital systems (e.g., Sofol).
  • Enable real-time portfolio visibility and customer-level risk segmentation.

Risk & Portfolio Management

  • Establish robust credit risk assessment models that leverage iFarmer’s farmer and transaction data.
  • Oversee loan monitoring, collections, and recovery processes.
  • Maintain portfolio default rates within agreed thresholds.
  • Monitor delinquency, NPL ratios, and repayment behavior, taking corrective actions swiftly.
  • Build early warning systems, collection frameworks, and recovery SOPs.

Customer Understanding & Insights

  • Deeply understand agri stakeholders farmers, retailers, suppliers and their financial behavior.
  • Translate insights into product design, user onboarding, repayment systems, and financial education strategies.
  • Champion customer-centric innovation with risk-aligned product decisions.

Operational Planning & Execution

  • Build and manage the financing operations team (credit ops, collections, risk, and partnerships).
  • Design SOPs for credit disbursement, monitoring, and reconciliation.
  • Forecast financing needs in alignment with seasonality, input demand, and trade cycles.
  • Lead the financial services team, ensuring strong execution from loan origination to repayment.
  • Implement scalable processes and technology systems for credit operations.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and internal governance requirements.

Requirements

  • 8–12 years of experience in fintech, SME lending, agri-finance, or B2B trade financing.
  • Proven ability to design and scale financial products in emerging or rural markets
  • Strong grasp of risk management, credit operations, and scoring frameworks.
  • Understanding of agri value chains, rural behaviour, and informal transaction systems.
  • Prior experience with banks, NBFIs, MFIs, or alternate lenders is a plus.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving, and field-intensive environments.
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, and cross-functional coordination skills.
